"“I will look for you, I will find you..."

"“I will look for you, I will find you..."

...and I will save your soul.”

...and I will save your soul.”

Why is it important to understand what happened when Jesus died on the cross?

To understand the cross correctly is to understand the Bible and understand Jesus Christ

The Bible consistently presents the world as a cosmic war zone. As local pastor Greg Boyd put it, "God’s on-going conflict with, and ultimate victory over, cosmic and human agents who oppose him and who threaten his creation.”

It's clear at the beginning of Scripture:

Genesis 3:15 – "[Eve’s offspring] will crush your head, and you will strike his heel."

And clear at the end.

Revelation 12:9 – "So, the great dragon was cast out [of heaven], that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world."

In Jesus dying on the cross, God defeated sin, evil, & Satan

Mark 10:45 – "For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."
Hebrews 2:14-15 – "By [Jesus’] death he might break the power of him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil—and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death."
Colossians 1:13 – "For [Jesus] has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves."
Colossians 2:15 – "Having disarmed the powers and authorities, [Jesus] made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.
