Baptism: Not Just for Super Christians
Have you hesitated getting baptized because you feel that you're not good enough or you're afraid that you can't sin after you've been baptized? Then this series is for you! In it Pastor Greg explores the Old and New Testaments for a clear, biblically sound view on baptism and the vital role is plays in the life and faith of every Christ-follower.
How do you know when you're ready to get baptized? This is a natural questions when we think it’s up to us to get ourselves ready for baptism. But what if it’s not up to us? Pastor Greg teaches from Genesis 17 and Colossians 2 on how God invites us into relationship with him and uses baptism as a sign of that relationship. (3/8/15)
When should baptism happen? At conversion? When you decide to “take your faith more seriously”? Pastor Greg shows that the book of Acts paints a consistent picture of the time and place for baptism in the life of the believer. Find out the thing Jesus’ disciples remembered about baptism that we often forget. (3/15/15)
There are a lot of different ways churches and denominations baptize people. Why does RiverLife, as part of the C&MA, dunk people all the way under the water and back up again? Pastor Greg teaches out of Romans 6:3-5 on how this form of baptism can be an amazing symbol of Christ’s work in the life of a believer. (3/22/15)
How can we wash our sins away? Does it happen when we choose to follow Christ? Or when we get baptized? Or both times? Pastor Greg uses a key principle of Bible reading to help clear up some of the more confusing passages about baptism and the forgiveness of sins. (3/29/15)
There’s no better time than Easter to celebrate new life – whether it’s Christ rising from the dead and bringing life to all of us OR a Christ-follower celebrating their new life through baptism. Pastor Greg teaches from 2 Corinthians 5 about where this new life comes from and what to do with it once we get it. (4/5/15)
During the months of & April, fifteen people made decisions to get baptized on Easter Sunday. Here are just a few of their stories about why they made their decision.
On Easter Sunday, over 140 people gathered to celebrate 15 people declaring their faith in God by getting baptized. Family and friends joined in the party as we sang, listened to Pastor Greg teach, and cheered on the folks as they "died to their old self" and were "raised again to new life". (4/5/15)
