We are currently looking for a part-time CHILDREN’S MINISTRY DIRECTOR whose responsibility will be to create an outstanding, Christ-centered children’s ministry that aligns with the mission and values of RiverLife. This will entail developing and implementing the vision, strategy and tactical elements for all programs, activities and educational aspects related to the children’s ministry.
Hours: 25 hrs/week
Start Date: May 1, 2019
We typically serve 65-75 infants, toddlers, and elementary school children weekly during our Sunday service. We are looking for someone who is vocationally ministry-minded, as this position will likely become full-time within a couple of years.
Oversee all Sunday activities, including nursery care, children’s church, age-appropriate classes, and childcare during adult Sunday school (Growth Classes).
Review curriculum materials and ministry supplies, and order as needed.
Recruit, train, and coordinate teachers and volunteers.
Implement the church’s safety and security policy, including performing background checks, interviews, and training.
Resolve any issues that come up with children, teachers, and parents.
Plan special family events outside of Sunday service.
Communicate regularly with parents, volunteers, and other ministry leaders.
Attend and participate in biweekly Ministry Team meetings.
Arrive early on Sunday morning to set up children’s ministry area and stay late to tear down.
Oversee childcare services for special church functions (i.e. workshops, volunteer training, and other special events.)
Participate in the life of the church outside of the children’s ministry.
A strong & growing personal commitment to Jesus Christ and the Church.
A love for children and families, as well as for second- and third- generation Hmong.
2-3 years of experience in children’s ministry: teaching Sunday school, leading groups, decision-making, etc.
Education or job experience in children/family ministry, child development, elementary education, or related fields.
Demonstrable success in recruiting, empowering, and communicating with volunteers.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Creative, innovative, and forward thinking.
Strong self-awareness, high cultural intelligence, and significant cross-cultural experiences.

RIVERLIFE CHURCH is a church plant launched in September 2014 with the North Central District of the Christian & Missionary Alliance. We are an English-speaking Hmong church whose mission is to bring hope and healing to second and third generation Hmong. We meet Sunday mornings at 10am on Saint Paul’s eastside. We serve an average of 250 adults and children each week for Sunday service. Our current ministries include Sunday service, children’s ministry, youth ministry, Sunday Growth Classes, weekly small group bible studies, monthly social events, and regular community service events.
