Doing Emotions Well: Lessons from the Psalms
Life is full of emotions—anger, joy, sadness—and sometimes that’s just before breakfast. And yet, sometimes they don’t receive a whole lot of attention. We focus on doing our jobs well, parenting well, and even eating well. But how much effort we put into doing emotions well? This is an important issue because how we handle our emotions has a direct impact on the quality of our lives, relationships, and careers. Does your anger hurt people you love? Do feelings of regret paralyze you with insecurity? Does your happiness lead you to depend more on yourself and less on God?
In this series, we will dive into the book of Psalms, the most poetic, emotionally raw book of the Bible, and through it we will see emotionally healthy, God-centered expressions sadness, happiness, regret, anger, and fear.
